Chapter 26: The Brāhmaṇa

‘brāhmaṇa’ means one who ‘bars out’ evil; he is said to be an asketic (samaṇa) who lives in quiet (sama); he is said to be a ‘goer forth’ (from the household life) who has ‘sent forth into banishment’ his own impurities.23
